JOB GOAL – To tutor students in assigned studies as directed by the classroom teacher or administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – To tutor students as directed to aide students in effective learning.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Must be capable on a continuous basis: standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping,
twisting; repetitive movement of both hands and feet; seeing with both near and far visual acuity.
2. Must be capable on a frequent basis: walking and moving; climb stairs.
3. Must be capable on an occasional basis: pushing; pulling; lifting up to 25# floor to waist, waist to
shoulders and shoulders to overhead.
4. Must maintain excellent attendance records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age and have a high school diploma
Employee hired after January 8, 2002 must have at least two years of higher education: have an associate’s or higher degree: or pass a rigorous academic assessment as mandated by the No Child Left Behind federal law. Participate in on-going job-related training.
Demonstrate competent tutorial skills in curriculum subject areas K-12.
Demonstrate mature judgment in making student behavior management strategies.
Demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain good rapport and maintain appropriate communications with students, staff, and parents.
Demonstrate ability to motivate children and build student self-esteem through positive interpersonal relationships.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follow teacher/administration directives to deliver tutoring services to individual students or small groups to reinforce learning materials and/or participate in activities.
2.Assist staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or content-level skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
3.Operates, instructs students on use, and cares for equipment used for tutorial or purposes.
4.Assist the students in the library, in classroom, or in other activities.
5.Follow directions of instructional staff in monitoring student progress and assisting in administering student assessment.
6.Follow teacher instructions in assisting in preparation of instructional materials.
7.Other duties not specifically listed but required by the teacher or administration.
